Designer and weaver of contemporary linen textiles

I started spinning and weaving whilst on a general arts course at Dartington College of Arts in Devon. There followed a degree course at Manchester College of Art and Design where I specialised in woven textiles. Once qualified, I worked in the textile industry for 5 years, then set up my own workshop in 1976. In 1982 I was introduced to the growing, processing and spinning of linen, and this has become my choice of fibre since that time.

Linen has always been used for, and is particularly suited to, household textiles like towels, napkins and table cloths. These I have specialised in from the start and have recently introduced more sculptural work incorporating stones. These can be seen at my studio..
